Biosketch
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dr. Rachel McConnell graduated from Southern University in Shreveport receiving an A.S. degree in Physics. She continued her education at Southern University in Baton Rouge where she graduated magna cum laude receiving a B.S. degree in Chemistry. She then launched her medical career attending Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport where she received her M.D. in 1986. Her postgraduate training includes, Internship and residency training at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans and in 1992 she successfully completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility with the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles.
Dr. McConnell was appointed as Assistant Professor and Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas in July 1992. Dr. McConnell was instrumental in the successful development of the University Institute for Fertility, of which she was the Medical Director.
Since leaving University of Nevada School of Medicine and going into private practice Dr. McConnell maintains her association in the capacity of Assistant Professor and Clinical Faculty with the School of Medicine. Her clinical interests are Polycystic ovary syndrome, Oocyte donation, Treating Unwanted Facial Hair, and Stress in IVF patients. Dr. McConnell's special research interest is the mechanism of embryo implantation.
Dr. McConnell is a fellow member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an associate member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. McConnell is board certified in OB/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is also active in the Clark County Medical Society, and the Nevada State Medical Association and their affiliated obstetrics and gynecology chapters.
