Everyday I take time to remember how lucky we are to have her, and how fortunate we were to be referred to Dr. McConnell and the N.F.C.A.R.E.S. staff. They took our bleak future and made it bright! We still have contact with the people in the office, not because we have to, but because we want to. And we look forward to starting this journey again, in search of another child, with the help of our friends at N.F.C.A.R.E.S. With the utmost appreciation, Amanda Erickson"
"After suffering three losses and going through a full barrage of fertility tests, I was told by another Dr. that my only option was IVF. That didn't make any sense to me. If I had conceived three times without any problems, why would I need IVF. Furthermore, how would conceiving through IVF prevent a miscarriage? It was at that point that I knew I had to get a second opinion. I was lucky enough to be referred to Dr. Rachel McConnell. She ordered a few simple tests and quickly discovered two separate conditions that were related to pregnancy loss, both which were easily treated with medications. A month later I conceived and 9 months later I had my beautiful healthy daughter in my arms. Dr. McConnell and her staff truly care about their patients and not just their success rates. I will forever be grateful for the love and care I received from Nevada Fertility C.A.R.E.S. Very truly yours, Melissa J. Hawkes"
"When my husband and I first married, we both agreed that we wanted a houseful of children. Little did we know that it would be a long, emotionally taxing road to achieve our dream. We began interviewing several infertility specialists. Though there were several good infertility specialists to chose from, after extensive research and meeting with Dr. McConnell and her staff we chose to proceed with her.
First we tried Clomid, then IUI, then two rounds of unsuccessful IVF. I was only 30 at the time and thought all these infertility treatments and unsuccessful attempts were for women closer to 40. Through it all Dr. McConnell and her nurse Julie were incredible. Always presenting us with options and the pros and cons of each. Dr. McConnell really made us apart of the healthcare team.
We finally decided to try using an egg donor. Luckily, we had a family member that was more than willing to help us. After our IVF transfer with donor eggs, we waited on pins and needles for 10 days until we could have our first pregnancy test. We were ecstatic when we received the call that it was positive. I couldn't believe the news. I asked Julie to rerun it and she said she already had. At 6 weeks post transfer we saw the sack with our little baby, at 8 weeks we saw two sacs. Our beautiful twins were born six months later.
The twins turned 5 this year and we are once again returning to Dr. McConnell to expand our family. We can never express our gratitude for the gift of life that she gave us, to that end we have referred so many friends to NFCARES. Luckily, everyone that we have referred has been blessed with babies. "
Sincerely, Amy and Tim
"I am so grateful to the staff at Nevada Fertility CARES. I have worked with another fertility clinic in town, and the difference is remarkable. You truly care about each individual patient. At Nevada Fertility CARES you are not alone in your journey to conceive because you have a team of caring professionals behind you. You are a patient not a statistic!" -Sheryl Hasen
"At age 34 and after my second ectopic pregnancy which required both fallopian tubes removed, my OB advised us that our only option for pregnancy was IVF. She gave us several names of specialists in Las Vegas.
The following months we researched specialists and I had heard positive feedback regarding a Dr. Rachel McConnell. We narrowed our search to 3 specialists in town and had consultations with each, including Dr. McConnell. My husband and I both felt she was the best fit for us. The other offices spoke mostly of finances and schedules. Dr. McConnell spoke mostly of my chart that she had already reviewed, our medical histories and the process of IVF. We also met with MaryAnn, the office Nurse Practioner, who was very knowledgeable and also explained things step-by-step. We noticed the staff in general was very nice and we didn't feel like another number.
I had a very positive experience through the IVF process and felt very little discomfort and had very few (if any) side effects from the medication. This does vary by person, but overall I was not too bothered by the process.
Our first attempt was not successful. My husband and I knew the statistics and were not shocked but a bit disappointed. That weekend I received a phone call from Dr. McConnell on her cell phone. She advised that she was sure that it would have worked the first time and she discussed my case with the other doctors and staff. First, I was shocked she called from her personal line and second I was shocked that my case had been weighing on her mind enough to call and discuss it on a Saturday. She wanted to do a couple additional blood tests to rule out anything at all that could get in the way of success on our second attempt. That phone call reinforced our decision to go with Dr. McConnell one thousand times over.
The staff was always great and very personable. I always felt comfortable and open to ask any question. Julie, the other nurse in the office, received many calls with questions from me and was always willing to talk about what was on my mind. She even called from her vacation in Mexico to see how I was doing!
Our second try at IVF was a success! We did implant three blastocysts (the first time 2). All three did implant and one split (I think the additional split happens very very rarely!). My husband and I agreed in the beginning that selective reduction may be a decision we'd have to make. Dr. McConnell referred us to a wonderful specialist who is also now my OB. Dr. McConnell and our OB advised that they would support any decision we made and make whichever route we chose as comfortable as possible. We chose to reduce to two. This decision was based on our research and comfort level. We are expecting twins and couldn't be happier. I am healthy and all tests show the babies are healthy and doing fabulous! We can't wait to be parents and we owe it all to Dr. McConnell and her staff."
"Words cannot express how grateful we are to you for turning our dream of having a second child into a reality. Our struggles with infertility were an emotionally and physically trying time; however the warmth and personal attention felt at every office visit and on every telephone call gave us the encouragement we needed to never give up hope. The staff of Nevada Fertility Cares has the most perfect blend of professionalism mixed with gentleness, kindness, and compassion. As we now await the birth of our triplets in a few months, we know that miracles can happen!" - Rebecca and Dale Wagner
"About three years ago, my husband and I decided it was time to start a family. We had the house, the jobs, the cars, the two dogs and lots of love to share, the only thing missing was a child. We started to “try” as many people say. After a while, we became discouraged and made an appointment with my ob/gyn. She recommended we see a fertility specialist and her recommendation was to see Dr. McConnell.
We anxiously awaited our first appointment, which would be a consultation. Right away we felt at ease and comfortable with the entire staff at N.F.C.A.R.E.S. Everything was explained in great detail to us and we were given various pieces of literature to read to help prepare us for what lie ahead. We began our testing and got to the root of our problem. We went over all of our options (sometimes more than once) and made the decision to proceed with fertility treatments. Every step of the way we were given one-on-one help. We even had the cell phone number of one of the nurses who we could contact at any time, day or night, with any questions or concerns. And believe me, we used it! We were always made to feel as if we were the most important people to ever step foot into that office. Believe me, we were there A LOT! I couldn’t believe the amount of time the staff at N.F.C.A.R.E.S. puts in on any given day/week! Everyone was encouraging and helpful and genuinely seemed to care about our progress. It sometimes felt like we had an entire cheering squad on our side!
It’s amazing how much you bond with the staff. It is such a personal situation and it is, at times, very difficult emotionally. To have the support of the many wonderful people at N.F.C.A.R.E.S. made the experience that much easier. For us, there were tears, not only by us, but by the staff as well. They felt all of our pain, frustration, and eventually, joy…and there were tears for that as well. We welcomed our first child, a daughter, in July, 2006.
"We went to Dr. McConnell in April of '02 for a consultation and started the IVF treatments in May. Around the second week of June I received a call that I was pregnant. It was like I was in a dream because we had tried for 5 years on our own with no luck. When we had our first ultrasound we found out that we were expecting twins. We still could not believe that it was actually happening to us. On Feb. 3, 2003 we were blessed with healthy twin boys.
A little over 2 years went by and with no luck again, trying on our own, we decided to do IVF once more. In May of '05 we started the treatments and in June we found out that we were expecting another set of twins. On Jan. 28, 2006 we were once again blessed with healthy twin girls.
Thank you Dr. McConnell and your loving Staff, from the bottom of hearts, for helping make our dreams a reality."
Sincerely, The Everett's
"We had perfect results! Dr. McConnell, is the nicest and sweetest person we have dealt with. The staff is phenomenal. They are caring, friendly, and always compassionate. Without Nevada Fertility Care we would not have had this miracle baby. Timothy Evart Robert Phillips, 6 lbs. 3 oz. 5/6/06."
